V. Amfiteatrov — the period of coediting (together with M. Gakkebush (Gorelov) and L. Andreev) from mid-December 1916 of the newly founded newspaper Russkaia Volia. Involving the archival data, the article analyzes the stage of preparing the newspaper for publication, the process of attracting new employees, the development of an ideological platform; the role of Amfiteatrov in these processes is traced; his publications and their reception by contemporaries are considered. Amfiteatrov’s letter to M. M.
