A numerical simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics based on the finite element method was carried out. The influence of a polluted barrier with different volumes conductivities and different diameters of the pollution layer on the electric field is studied. A comparison between a part and a completely polluted insulating barrier is performed. The difference between polluted and conductive barriers in also presented.
