An approach for determining load-dependent monetary assessment factors for PILC and XLPE cables within a load flow simulation
This paper presents an approach which enables a load-dependent monetary assessment of underground cables to be used as part of an optimization process to enhance the grid's simulative operational management. Thermal aging models provided by the laws of Arrhenius and Montsinger are used to establish adjusted life expectancies for varying load percentages. The conductor's temperatures are approximated in dependency of its respective ampacity. By correlating adjusted life expectancies and initial investment costs, an annual deduction can be determined. This value represents the monetary assessment factor, which can be indicatively used in specifying control measures for various system states.
