Managing grid event analysis using automated event analyzer and reports based on PMU data
Synchrophasor data has been collected for ISOs and utilities since large scale Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) deployments have been made. A variety of applications based on synchrophasor data have also been deployed. One of the applications is to use synchrophasor data for event detection and analysis. However, given different job functions of grid operators, engineers and IT personnel, their focus for event analysis is different. This paper presents a solution to manage grid events comprehensively, which can be tailored to specific needs and use cases. The proposed approach has been integrated, validated and used at the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) in daily operations practice. The work addresses a variety of grid event management needs and hence benefits operators and engineers for grid reliability.
