The ITS-G5 standards family describes a Car-to-Car communication solution for Europe, based on the IEEE 802.11p WIFI-standard using 7 communication channels at 5.9 GHz. In this paper we propose an idea of location-based channel-selection. A vehicle selects the channel depending on its position and an associated virtual radio cell. The location-based channel usage shall reduce the local channel throughput and shall allow for a content- and situation dependent choice of the dissemination area. A simulation of urban traffic was implemented to create a significant channel congestion caused by a high number of moving vehicles.
