Bone mass density identification is the standard procedure to monitor the risk of fracture in bone using DEXA. Lot of research has been carried out to calculate BMD using X-ray images and it provided prominent results. Since Xray is economically affordable and very economical compared to DEXA, we have decided to work on X-ray images. This paper explains us about various current advancements and disadvantages with respect to X-ray image in medical sector and various techniques related to BMD calculation.
