X-ray diffraction studies on sintered powders indicated the formation of single phase tetragonal structure, and the lattice parameters are measured by Rietveld analysis using TOPAS software. A remarkable enhancement in upconversion (UC) emission intensity in the presence of Yb3+ sensitizer ion and the detailed mechanism in proposed UC emission is studied.
