This study aims to describe the planning, implementation and improvement of student learning outcomes with the utilization of the surrounding environment as a source of learning in class IX SMPN 4 Kurau Year 2017.Key Word : Environment, source learning, student activity, Learning Outcomes AbstrakPembelajaran IPS di SMPN 4 Kurau pada dasarnya menggunakan buku teks dengan metode ceramah dan tanya jawab. Pembelajaran seperti ini hanya berpusat pada guru sehingga peserta didik cenderung pasif dan menyebabkan motivasi peserta didik untuk belajar mata pelajaran IPS sangat rendah dan berdampak pada hasil belajar peserta didik yang rendah.
