Mechanisms of action of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and therapeutic considerations.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. Although most NSAIDs inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, these agents also have important pharmacologic actions unrelated to their effects on prostaglandins.
