Performance analysis and comparison of assured and premium service in differentiated services networks
This paper explores the performance of the two types of services supported by the Differentiated services - Assured Service and Premium service. It focuses on the mechanisms used for implementation of the Expedited Forwarding Per-Hop Behavior (EF PHB) and Assured Forwarding PHB (AF PHB), analyzing them with respect to the main QoS parameters: throughput, delay and drop rate. The impact of the scheduling algorithms and also the impact Of AF (Assured Forwarding) and EF (Expedited Forwarding) on the BE (Best Effort) traffic is investigated. Simulations were carried out under different traffic conditions (different levels of burstiness, packet sizes and traffic service types) and different parameters.
