Three mesiodentes were conical and impacted, while the other one had erupted and was incisiform in shape. All roots of the mesiodentes were completely formed. Intrapair twin comparison showed a high degree of genetically determined concordance, with minor differences subject to environmental influences. The prevalence of mesiodens and rate of monozygotic twins in various ethnic groups are reviewed.
