Effects of dietary bentonite on improvements in hematology and enzyme in copper exposed rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
This research was conducted to determine the effects of dietary bentonite on copper toxicity in rainbow trout ( Oncorhynchus mykiss ). Fish were fed with a commercial feed including 0, 500 and 1000 mg/kg Cu and 0, 1 and 2% bentonite for 4 months. Final evaluation was made by determining hematology and enzyme activities. It was determined that bentonite did not prevent the toxicity of ish in the presence of 1000 mg/kg copper since there were signiicant changes in enzyme activities of ish. It may be suggested that adding 2% bentonite to ish feeds prevents Cu toxicity. Further studies are needed in different ish species living various environments in order to introduce it commercially.
