Alzheimer's disease and multi-infarct dementia are the two main diseases entirely different from each other producing almost the same abnormalities as dementia syndrome. With magnetic resonance imaging, severe atrophy of amygdala and hippocampus in both Alzheimer's disease and multi-infarct dementia was observed.
