Possibilities of Soft Ballistic Resistant Materials to Mitigate Dominant Effects of a Explosive Ordnance Detonation
The aim of this article is to introduce results of an experiment which was carried out to verify abilities of a specifically designed multipurpose, multilayer safety box made of soft ballistic resistant materials to mitigate dominant effects of a small explosive ordnance detonation (blast wave, fragment factor). The purpose of the experiment consisted in blasts of four explosive ordnances; two explosive ordnances inside the safety box (RG F1, URG 86) and two explosive ordnances without the safety box RG F1, URG 86). Needed data were acquired by measuring of pressure in required distances and reading of the fragment effect on the reference wall for each blast. Comparison of these values showed us the efficiency of the proposed safety box. The obtained knowledge serves for further development of the safety box and extends knowledge about the effects of the detonation dominant effects on soft ballistic resistant materials.
