Cuidados, infancias y migraciones. Experiencias emocionales de migrantes e hijos de migrantes bolivianos en Argentina

The work carried out by Bolivian migrants and their children in Argentina involves the overlapping of domestic and market work spaces. This means that children are cared for by their mothers in the places where they carry out paid work and, in some cases, they must also care for other children. In this article we analyze those experiences of care and, through interviews, reconstruct how they remember that care and the emotions associated with it. As will be seen, the emotional experiences are different in relation to the space — rural or urban — in which the care took place. Although the experiences of young people in the city, as well as those who grew up in the farms, highlight feelings of pride in their parents’ work, this implies tensions because the contact with state institutions produced different emotions in the specific places.
