The mobile radio extension of the SOTRIN Area Communication System
The concept of the SOTRIN SCRA (single-channel radio access), the mobile radio extension of the SOTRIN Area Communication System that is fully compliant with EUROCOM specifications, is described. IT provides full duplex VHF radio communications to mobile users, with TRANSEC and COMSEC protection, offering the same numbering scheme and services as for the static subscribers. The SCRA can also work in stand-alone mode as an autonomous communication center ideal for quickly deploying troops operating far from the rear combat zone. The system shows good performance in terms of probability of connection even in the worst electromagnetic scenario and high traffic density. The most advanced technical solutions regarding hybrid DS/FH (direct sequence/frequency hopping) ECCM (electronic counter countermeasures) modulation and antenna coupling for the eight transceivers at the radio access point are discussed.<>
