Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol is a solution for efficient energy consumption in sensor networks, which chooses the cluster head randomly. Therefore, this paper not only tries to improve the cluster head selection process by considering the predefined radius of base station or sink node to choose the gateway nodes as relays, but also considers a sleep/awake cycle for the purpose of reducing the energy consumption.
