Digital Transformation of Rural Villages in Developing Counties - Case study at Cambodia
This paper presents an investigation into the rural digitalization of developing countries, particularly in Cambodia. The research has been stimulated by the UN FAO-funded project of the AsianDHHRA with four developing countries: Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The research team in Cambodia collected data in collaboration with CamboDHHRA from many stakeholders, including government agencies, agri-tech business NGOs, farmers, and so forth. Desk research has also been conducted to extract data and knowledge to understand the progress of digital transformation. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to analyze these data. The outcomes of the data were presented to a validation workshop of over 30 participants to verify the status. Finally, various observations from the outcomes of data analysis have been presented to demonstrate the challenges and potential of the digital transformation of Cambodia. Moreover, recommendations have been provided to prepare the next phase of the UN plan for digital village transformation.
