The principles, techniques and basic actions of psychological first aid have been described. The stages of the social and psychological adaptation aimed at reducing stress, effectively overcoming the post-traumatic feelings and problems, particularly the initial stage, the stage of patience, the adjusting stage and the stage of total adaptation have been demonstrated. The main forms and methods of the social and psychological adaptation have also been described. A set of measures to provide psychological first aid to all categories of students in order to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events has been developed with the aim of the social and psychological adaptation of students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
