A comparative review of improved energy detection and statistical covariance for Cognitive Radio
The term Spectrum sensing is a progressive topic of research for the past few years, as it is important in cognitive radio system. In cognitive radio, spectrum sensing helps an unlicensed user for detecting unused bands and to utilize these bands for unlicensed communication. In this paper, the presentation of the different spectrum sensing schemes i.e. classical energy detection, improved energy detection and statistical covariance are compared. Statistical covariance method is L times more complex than that of energy detection. The analysis shows that statistical covariance method outperforms both classical energy detection and improved energy detection method in terms probability of detection.
