The paper presents an analysis of existing methods of organizing business processes and processes for managing utilities’ plant assets in the Russian Federation. The paper presents the experience of organizing Business Process Management systems, based on various notations of Integrated Definition for Function Modeling, Business Progress Modeling Notation, Architecture of Integrated Information Systems, and also describes modern approaches to their engineering and implementation at energy enterprises. Within this study, the national experience of introducing Enterprise Resource Planning systems, their basic structure and operation principles are also analyzed as in the case of a distribution grid company.
