Ka-band Rectenna With Enhanced Power Handling Capability Using Double-port Horn Antenna
This paper presents a Ka-band rectenna which contains a double-port antenna connected with two rectifiers for wireless power transfer. The horn antenna is formed by two stacked apertures to minimize the antenna height. The horn antenna is connected to 1-to-2 power divider to form a double-port antenna. The power divider would be connected to the two same efficient rectifiers. With this rectenna topology, the power handling capability would be enhanced by 2 times. At 34.5 GHz, the designed antenna has a realized gain of 11.1 dBi, the designed power divider has insertion loss of 3.07 dB, and the rectifier has a power conversion efficiency of 50% when the load is 300 Ω and the input power is 22 dBm. It can be predicted that the rectenna can handle at least 25 dBm input power.
