Application of Principles of Programme Management in Construction and Development

Project management is widely used term as well as the process and method itself in plenty of fields of human being, certainly in construction and development. On the other hand programme management which is kind of superstructure of project management is rarely being recognized in civil engineering. A programme is a set of separate projects that are coordinated at the same time, giving the company greater efficiency and overview than management of each project separately. This paper aims to verify the current stage of utilization of programme management principles in construction and development by analyzing the programme management maturity level of three types of companies from civil engineering sector, namely PMC companies, large construction and development companies and retail companies. The research is based on semi-structured interviews in 16 companies. The results show significant differences in usage of programme management principles within the companies and finally next steps of the research and its application is being presented.
