Evaluation and Improvement of the Accuracy of TEM Transmission Cells with Internal Field Measurements
Two square TEM transmission cells with side heights 30 cm and 50 cm were designed for the calibration of RF-hazard monitors. The error due to reflections was reduced from ±10 % to ±2 % (input VSWR < 1.2) by lengthening straight sections and measuring the longitudinal E-field patterns at calibration frequencies. Comparison measurements with small probes showed that the maximum difference between the cells was 7 % except some sharp resonance points caused by TEM harmonics and TE01 mode. The vertical field non-uniformity was also examined.
