Survey design was used in the study. Two hundred (200) undergraduate students were selected for this study. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire in form of interview constructed by the researcher. The reliability estimate of the instrument was established through Cronbach Alpha reliability which give .75 and .77. Independent t-test was used as a statistical tool for data analysis. Each of the hypotheses was tested at .05 level off significance using SPSS Version 22. \nFindings: The findings revealed that peer relationship and parental social-economic status significantly influence perception off street life among children from age 8 to 18 years in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. \nUnique Contribution to theory and practice: The study was recommended amongst others that parents of low social-economic status should be empowered to enable them provide basic needs for their children. 摘要
目的:本研究旨在探讨动机、同伴关系归因和父母社会经济地位对尼日利亚克罗斯河州卡拉巴尔市8 - 18岁儿童街头生活感知的影响。方法:该研究基于两个主要目标,旨在确定尼日利亚克罗斯河州卡拉巴尔8至18岁的同伴关系、父母社会经济影响地位的程度。本研究采用问卷调查设计。本研究选取了200名本科生。数据收集的工具是由研究者构建的访谈形式的问卷。通过Cronbach Alpha信度建立仪器的信度估计,信度分别为0.75和0.77。采用独立t检验作为数据分析的统计工具。使用SPSS Version 22对每个假设进行0.05水平显著性检验。研究结果表明,同伴关系和父母的社会经济地位显著影响尼日利亚克罗斯河州卡拉巴尔市8至18岁儿童对街头生活的感知。对理论和实践的独特贡献:除其他外,该研究建议应赋予社会经济地位较低的父母权力,使他们能够为子女提供基本需求。从而减少了社会上流浪儿童的数量。
