Therefore, the concentrators are used as the relay points to transmit the data between smart meters and the control center in the stability and cost-efficient way. This paper investigates the problem of placement of concentrators in smart grid communication system. The specific constraints are that concentrators are to be located on utility poles and communication link between smart meters and concentrators is done over power line communication (PLC). While the proposed optimization problem is an integer program, we develop the genetic algorithm to solve the concentrators placement problem.
