The article presents the author’s vision of the essence and meaning of strategic behavior of economic systems. Strategic behavior of an economic entity is a systemic activity oriented towards building a sustainable architectonics of competitiveness in the context of an active off ensive of a turbulent global environment. Strategic behavior is proposed to be viewed as an activity determined by the mission, values and culture of the managing actor and is a form of its interaction with both the outside world and endogenous components, in which the threats of globalization are leveled out and positive infl uences are enhanced. The proposed systematization of approaches to the content of strategic behavior is categorical, systematic, process and factorial. Strategic behavior as a category refl ects the relationship between managerial and managed subsystems about the goal of economic entity development and how to achieve it. The category of strategic behavior is also directly related to the refl ection of the economic system about philosophy, values, mission, interaction with the globalized global world, and the internal environment. In the strategic plan, strategic behavior includes strategic management and tactics of economic activity, which ensures the realization of long-term managerial decisions. Strategic behavior involves a large number of elements, among which the basic ones are: strategy as a landmark for development; a management subsystem, aimed at organizing economic activity; human potential as a managed subsystem and, at the same time, a set of resources capable of implementing a strategy in a rapidly changing environment; technologies that allow the eff ective use of all available economic system potential in the process of globalization. Strategic behavior is a developmental factor with a certain vector and the fi lling of functions in various areas. The basic types of behavior of economic systems characterized in the conditions of globalization are determined. These types are characterized by independent decision-making, despite external infl uences as a result of the intensifi cation of globalization processes.
