Starting from a well-known extension of the GPSR protocol to multicast, reduced bandwidth consumption is obtained by performing clustering estimation of the destination group and by considering each cluster as a single node for packet forwarding. As the new protocol limits the number of packet replications, network efficiency is improved. When real-time multicast traffic is carried, the packet delivery ratio is increased without noticeably affecting end-to-end delay. We study the performance of our protocol through simulation, with a simulator implementing a full MAC protocol.
