My students will use their new-found knowledge of geometry to see God's amazing work in creation. He has formed so many astounding patterns throughout creation, and through knowledge of the many geometric relationships, students will be able to better understand and appreciate God's creation. A. Creation – My unit will help students understand God's creational design in these ways: We do not live in a one-dimensional world! In this unit, students will understand this, and will be able to recognize area as an attribute of two-dimensional regions. Also, God created earth with many designs, patterns, and shapes. If we look closely at this earth, we find geometry everywhere we look! It is very important for students to understand geometry so that they can see how majestic their Creator truly is! They will have even more cause to worship and glorify Him for His creation! B. The effects of sin – My unit will help students understand the distortions of sin in these ways: Creation was perfect when God created it. But we fell into sin, and it became difficult for man to work the earth. Sin has distorted creation as well as man. It is not always easy to find congruence and symmetry in some of creation. This may be because of sin and its distortion of creation. Also, men who do not want to listen to God may create art or technology that is purposefully not symmetrical or congruent. Many times this is a purposeful action to show that they do not believe that the world was created by a balanced Creator! Also, when humans sin by polluting the earth, and not taking care of it, we are distorting creation's perfect geometrical design. C.
