This paper, therefore, explores the potential benefit of the graph theory approach to address the problem of transmission line usage allocation within power systems. The mathematical formulation for the Modified Incidence Matrix (MIM), based on power-flow solution, is presented. The allocation to network generators and individual loads within the network is carried out according to the MIM developed. The simulations are carried out on Matlab 2013a environment as a programming tool. The approach presented is investigated on a standard IEEE 5-bus network and a practical Nigerian 28-bus network.
