However, it does not support energy measurements, which was tackled by an extension tool called POWERTOSSIM. This tool works separately from TOSSIM where it uses the simulation's output file at the end of the simulation to generate energy measurements. Therefore, TOSSIM and POWERTOSSIM do not support developing energy-aware protocols and applications for WSN, because this type of development needs online energy measurements, while the simulation is running. In this paper, we tackle this drawback by developing an Online Energy Model and integrate it with TOSSIM simulator.
