This review examines the corpus of literature surrounding the use of probiotics in some of the species of Salmo most important to modern aquaculture, including Salmo salar, S. coruhensis, S. trutta, and S. trutta caspius, with a particular emphasis on the most recent research. The use of many of these probiotics is associated with such host benefits as enhanced growth, nutrition, and immunity.
