Antibacterial Activity of Methanolic Extract of Tagetes Erecta (Marigold)
Infectious diseases have always been one of the important concerns of human and have continuously attracted the attention of a large number of various medical and laboratory professionals. On the other hand, treatment with antibiotics has other problems such as drug resistance and side effects, so the use of new herbal medicines with fewer side effects can be a great help in treating these types of infections. The objective of this study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of marigold (Tageteserecta) methanolic extract on five reference strains including Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus and Streptococcus pyogenes. Then, their antimicrobial effects were investigated using agar well diffusion and tubular dilution methods. The extract from the flowers of T. erectashowed a great potential antibacterial activity against both Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria.
