Using this near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) system, the authors investigated the relationship between directly measured jugular venous O/sub 2/ saturation (S/sub j/O/sub 2/) and regional cerebral O/sub 2/ saturation (rSHbO/sub 2/) as determined by NIRS.
