Gawęda dubiecka Wincentego Pola

Wincenty Pol’s ties to the Podkarpacie region (Sanok, Przemyśl, and Gorlice Lands) resulted in many important works, such as “Songs and Our Land”, “Mohort”, “Szajne-katarynka”, “Pictures from Life and Nature”, and numerous occasional poems. Some of these works were inspired by the writer’s acquaintance with members of the Krasicki family of the Rogala coat of arms, especially with General Ksawery Krasicki. The article discusses the second part of Memoirs of Pan Benedykt Winnicki, written in the Podkarpacie region, entitled “Senators’ Consent. The Tradition of the Gentry from Sanockie”, the inspiration for which was Ignacy Krasicki’s visit to Dubiecko, two years after his appointment as bishop, and his settling of a dispute between two feuding Sanok families of the Bale and Mniszchy. The author shows that in telling this story, Pol used the Dubiecko variety of storytelling, just as Franciszek Karpiński had done half a century earlier in Journey from Dubiecko to Skałka. It is possible that the choice of form was influenced by the “spirit of the place” - the landscape with the palace and park complex belonging to the Krasicki family and its residents and guests.
