Communications between these devices on the network has a constraint of less lifetime of the nodes due to energy consumption. Optimization methods are largely used for increasing the network life time. This paper proposes a hybrid method ACO: BPSO which combines the Ant Colony Optimization along with the Binary Particle Swarm Optimization for increasing the life time of the network. The ACO helps in toggling between the ACTIVE and SLEEP modes of the nodes.
