Microstrip bowtie patch antenna for wireless indoor communications
A novel methodology is presented for the design of a wideband microstrip bowtie patch antenna (MBA) of finite length placed on a dielectric substrate. Here, a microstrip line feed network was used in HP Microwave Design System (MDS/sup TM/) to match the MBA, since this type of feed network facilitates the construction of an array. Experimental measurements for the bowtie designed in the X-band are shown to agree well with the simulated predictions, especially the radiation patterns. The resonant length of the antenna was found to be around twice the dielectric wavelength of 20.2 mm. The bandwidth obtained is about 9.7%.
