The section deals with the methods of calculating the Hebrew calendar used by various Jewish sects throughout history. According to the author, this passage is related to R. Saʿadya Gaon’s “Book of Distinction” (Kitāb al-tamyīz) and includes entire passages from his commentary on Genesis.
