The authors consider the most promising direction of the creation of information systems for the automatic create of technological processes to be based on the CAD model. This direction involves the development of theoretical positions, the formalization of requirements and processes for create of technology. In the article presented, the authors consider issues related to create of technology of machining parts by cutting. The main tasks have been determined, solving in the process create of technology for the formation of the geometric part configuration. The authors propose an original classification of surfaces formation methods. A simple set of shaping motions corresponds to each method taking into account the configuration of the cutting edge of the tool.
