Harmonic-domain analysis of AC machine with magnetic saturation by finite element method
This paper presents a new three-dimensional finite element analysis to AC electromagnetic machines with nonlinear magnetic characteristics in a steady state. The method enables calculation of the time-periodic (nonsinusoidal) characteristics in the harmonic domain. Unlike field calculations in time domain, only the steady-state solution can be obtained directly. The application of parallel processing to this approach is discussed. The analyses of an inductor with a shading coil and a model of a flux-concentration type electromagnetic pump are also presented.<>
