Study of the influence of permanent magnets in the interruption process of the electrical arc in MCB
A methodology to modify the behavior of the electrical arc in the extinguish process has been a topic of study by several researchers. The use of Deion plates to extinguish the electrical arc is very well studied in literature. This work proposes the use of permanent magnets inside of the arc chamber to improve the performance of the arc extinction. The permanent magnets generate a magnetic field in which the electric arc behaves different against the use of the Deion Plates. This investigation presents a comparison between the test data of circuit breakers with a Deion plate's configuration and permanent magnets considering different polarities and arrangements. The purpose of this work is to understand the electric arc behavior inside the circuit breakers when fixed magnets are used to extinguish the electrical arc in the arc chamber. This work will present a comprehensive study of the behavior for further designs and technologies.
