Examining the foundational properties of dynamic value networks
In this position paper we use the umbrella term `Dynamic Value Networks' (DVN) to refer to networks consisting of both businesses and individuals, who interact - possibly only for a short time - to create solutions to quickly changing needs, and then morph into something different based on new value-creation opportunities. While a DVN can be formally described as a multidimensional graph with separate dimensions for time and the observer in question, understanding their behavior requires a multidisciplinary approach. In this paper, we discuss the nature of DVNs and summarize organization theoretical and strategic management approaches to understand profit-seeking firm behavior in a DVN context.
