An approach to a Fuzzy-based Automatic Pap Screening System-FAPSS-addressed to cytology cells detection
Automatic Cell Screening Systems-ACSS-are in progress in several areas. Although the systems actually in use make the screening more expensive than the conventional cervical screening, the development of new systems in the near future, cheaper and faster, will promote the utilization of ACSS to make easier cell cytology. We present an efficient and fast Fuzzy-based Automatic Pap Screening Systems-FAPSS-algorithm, that can be useful for future ACSS. The algorithm detects areas of the smear wherein the cells are located. Identification of the best areas for screening provides the importance degree for evaluation of each field. The results obtained by the proposed algorithm have a high concordance degree with the cytotechnologist evaluation.
