Method of document review has been used in this study and documents, reports and studies concerning the process have been examined. In the analysis, besides reform process in our country, comparisons are done by data gathered in EU and OECD members are included. Within the frame of comparison with other countries; explanatory results are stated on the stratification in basic education with lowering of school starting age, and the changes in weekly class hours and curriculum of social studies courses. © 2014 IOJES.
