Design of a novel compact dual-band monopole quasi Egg-shaped antenna for C and Ku bands
In this research a novel planar monopole antenna for dual band applications is proposed. The antenna topology operates at two operating frequencies at 4.1 and 11.3 GHz which covers C and Ku bands. The proposed design consists of a quasiegg-shaped radiating patch and partial ground plane. A stepped cut in the radiating patch and the partial ground plane are used, to obtain the dual band antenna. The proposed antenna is printed on the FR4 substrate and is optimized by computer simulation technology (CST) and occupies an area of 11.5 × 16.6 × 1.6 mm3. The desired resonant frequencies are obtained by adjusting the length of cut stepped slits in the both sides of quasi egg Quasi Egg-Shaped radiated patch and of the partial ground plane. The proposed topology achieves good impedance matching, return loss (greater than −10dB), radiation patterns and consistent gain at all two operating bands. The proposed antenna has VSWR < 2 except the 5.11–9.79 GHz band. Detail of the proposed antenna design, simulated for the return loss parameter are described and discussed.
