To keep the IR guided weapons' initiative on the battlefield, it is important to investigate the performance of IR decoy. This paper analyses the principle of the discrete phase model (DPM) and then establishes the radiation characteristic model of the infrared decoy. At last, the simulation results are obtained by utilizing the CFD software. The simulation results indicate that the character of luminance on core area of plume is apparent and the spectrum band of 3~5 μm can be main spectrum band for detection for plume of IR decoy.
