Research on Development of STEAM-6E Project Course
This study aims to develop STEAM-6E (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts STEAM) (Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend, Enrich, Evaluate; 6E Learning by Design) project course. It invites 5 experts and scholars to conduct focus group and collectively establish STEAM-6E project course development and instructional activity design based on design of IoT (Internet of Things; IoT) elderly assistive device as the topic. In addition, it practices experimental instruction by 48 research subjects of students in department of engineering of technological college. Through questionnaire survey, it probes into students’ learning outcome. Conclusions are as follows: (1) STEAM-6E course of creative design of IoT elderly assistive device includes 3 dimensions, namely STEAM course, 6E instruction and project knowledge and competence, (2) STEAM learning concept analysis and evaluation of project course can completely present students’ STEAM integrated knowledge, (3) after experiencing STEAM-6E project course, students of department of engineering in technological college show positive learning outcome in terms of STEAM course, 6E instruction and project knowledge and competence. Based on above, this study proposes suggestions regarding application of IoT new technology on creative design of elderly assistive device.
