The growing number of social media users in political communication incites discourse analysts and linguists to investigate these new forms of social communication. This research aims to show that new paradigms are needed in order to analyse the digital posts published on Instagram and Twitter by some political leaders of the Conservative and Republican parties in the United Kingdom and in the United States such as Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees - Mogg and Donald Trump. This analysis is based on multimodal approaches used in information science in order to study polysemiotic digital posts.
