Low Dose Aspirin in prevention of Spontaneous Preterm Birth in Suez Canal University Hospital

Methods/design: Women with a singleton pregnancy and a history of spontaneous preterm birth in a singleton pregnancy (16 to <37 weeks of gestation) were asked to participate in a randomized, double blinded, controlled trial. In total, 120 pregnant women, the first group was randomized to low dose aspirin (81 mg once daily) plus folic acid 500 mcg, the second group took folic acid only. Study initiated from 8 to 16 weeks up to maximal 36 weeks and 6 days of gestation. The primary outcome measure was preterm birth, defined as birth at a gestational age (GA) <37 weeks.
