5M analysis of the carbon footprint generated by freight transport
In this article, we will discuss the environmental impact of urban logistics by attempting to identify the factors that contribute to the increase in CO2 emissions. To this end, we will review the literature to identify the relationship between logistical sprawl and CO2 emissions. In this respect, logistics sprawl is the organizational strategy that aims to optimize logistics flows. It consists in setting up logistics platforms on the outskirts of the city with the aims of consolidating flows and providing adequate transport plans. However, the major constraint of this movement is to ensure clean transport with the lowest emission rate. In this context, we propose to identify the causes that contribute to the increase in the carbon footprint of freight transport. To do so, we propose to use the 5M method and deduce optimization avenues.
